Propane Leaks
If you discover a leak in your Propane system:
- Extinguish all close by sources of ignition
(cigarettes, open flames, etc.)
- Do NOT turn off lights or appliances/equipment in the leak
area!
- Shut Off the propane supply valve at the
tank
- Leave the affected area straight away!
- Call 911 from a neighbors, or Cell Phone
- Wait for Emergency responders, do NOT reenter the area until
declared safe by the authorities
-
Many people don't know where their
propane shut off valve is. You may want to locate your propane tank
before an emergency to determine how to shut the valve off.
Then notify all family or tenants of the location,
and demonstrate how to turn it off. Consider having them each do it
as well, so they know what to do during an emergency.
